My "No Impact" Summative

Final Blog!
So this crazy summative has finally come to an end. I've definitely had a lot of fun doing it, even though it was pretty tempting to just ditch it all and go to McDonalds. But I'm glad I stuck to my word, and got through it without cheating by choice. I definitely thought it was going to be easier though, I'm not going to lie. I've gotten so sick of eating sandwiches and salads and basically almost all food brought from home. So many times I wanted to have a sub, or a burger from mcdonalds, or even a slush puppy on the days where its 25+!!! I've never had to resist myself so badly, like I had to avoid the food court on my way to work completely so I wouldn't be tempted by all the signs and by the smell of all the yummy food that was waiting for me! It was definitely worth the challenge though, it made me very proud of myself that I could commit to something and carry it out for almost a whole month. Never would I though I could give up McDonalds for that long either... At some point tomorrow I'm DEFIANTLY going to McD's and ordering a huge fry with a double cheeseburger! No way could I have done what Colin Beavan, the "No Impact Man" did. Eating all organic food for a whole year would kill me. No matter how many times someone says it's bad for me, and that's its not good for the environment either I just can't let go of my fast food. It's so much more convenient before work, and it's so much yummier at lunch time. What I am going to take on with me after this summative is that I'm going to definitely keep using my reusable water bottle everyday, and I'm going to try to pack myself a lunch at least 3 times a week. It's not a huge thing, but it is more than I was doing before therefore it is reducing my carbon footprint. I'm going to try to keep doing stuff around the house like turn off the lights, not use as much air conditioning, and I'm going to try to bike to school during exams but I don't know how long that will last especially with the weather now and days. I'm really trying to be more eco-friendly, and trying to reduce my carbon footstep. I'll never be able to pull of something like Colin Beaven did, like I said before, because some of the things he did were a little bit extreme. I'm not going to stop wearing makeup, or trade my clothes for all hemp clothing, or give up my my electricity, nor will I give up my fridge.. He tried to make a point, and that's what we're trying to do as well but I believe going as far as Colin Beaven did is a little bit too extreme.

LAST BLOG!
Yesterday, I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch, my last lunch in a reusable lunch container for a while. I brought a salad to work and that instead of getting fast food, for the last time. I can't wait to have mcdonalds, like I can't even explain how long it's been! It's been good being healthy, and it's been really fun reducing my eco footprint! Even though it's been great to follow the footsteps of the no impact man, I could never have done everything he did. Not eating fast food was definately very hard to for me to do!

8th blog!
2 MORE DAYS LEFT! I've been super good, I got my dad to get me salad last night from the market and we had that for lunch and it was very yummy! For dinner we went to the butcher and got some steak, and had a big family eco-friendly meal which I was happy about! I'm very glad I've done this summative, as hard as it has been I've surprisingly only cheated once, and it wasn't even my fault. I'm sooo excited to have a freezie, and have a McDonalds's hamburger though, I'm not going to lie!
7th blog!
I can't believe this whole summative is almost done! There's only 3 more blogs to go! Today I was so tempted to go to Dairy Queen's because it's been so hot lately, but I decided to go home and make a smoothie instead which I think turned out a lot better! As tempting as it if to not eat fast food, I think it's been a really good experience. It's helped my diet too! I've lost 5 pounds, which isn't THAT big of a deal, but I'm definitely happy! Whether it has to do with the fact that I've been eating better, or the fact that I've been going to the gym more lately I'm definitely liking that my prom dress fit's a little more snug on my body and that I don't have to worry about not being able to breath!
6th blog!
Now that I'm back from the States, I have no reasons to cheat again. I was pretty disappointed last weekend when I had to go subway, and even though the paper was a "partially" recycled I felt pretty bad. The whole point of this was to go along with this decision we had made of being eco friendly, and it just sucks that it got ruined by a sandwich... Anyways, I have been eating great since then, my dad picked up some fresh bread and lunch meat today so I had a good sandwich, and I haven't worked in a bit so I haven't really had any temptations to eat from a fast food place!
